EVENT DETAILS
Kicks 99 presents “Rock for the Cops” on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 8:30 p.m. at The Country Club in Augusta, GA. Proceeds from the concert benefit the Georgia Post Critical Incident Seminar (PCIS) through The Police Benevolent Foundation.

Law enforcement officers are exposed to high-stress on a daily basis, but from time to time encounter extraordinarily traumatic situations. Over 20 years ago, the FBI developed a highly effective program for post-incident training in critical incident stress. PCIS has literally meant the difference between staying on the job and leaving law enforcement due to unresolved effects of critical incident stress.

All of the proceeds from this benefit concert will fund the Georgia PCIS that will provide officers with education on trauma, patterns of resolution, and field-tested coping strategies to promote recovery and resilience.

Peer support is also an important element of the PCIS, by promoting normalization and recovery. Georgia PCIS has hosted officers that were the first to respond to the scene of the Sandy Hook Elementary School, Columbine High School, and Virginia Tech shootings, as well as many other officers that have witnessed unfathomable tragedies. You can only imagine what their lives have been like since those tragic events. Our goal through these seminars is to heal broken hearts and to ease weary minds.
